Saturday 6/8 Memorial service at Korsbetningen
Wreath-laying at a memorial cross to honor those who died in
battle July 27, 1361.
Korsbetningen
This is the location of mass graves after the great battle between Valdemar Atterdag army and the Gotland peasant army. The fallen had to be buried in consecrated ground and the most appropriate place for this was the Cistercian Solberga. Here were dug at least five major mass graves in which the corpses were thrown down pell-mell. The historical documentation and the rich material from Korsbetningen has given us tremendous insight into the history.
